Cieniawski: Support enriching school experiences, vote for SUSD override

Posted

This election, we are being asked to support our Scottsdale Unified School District by approving a budgetary increase through a continuation of the District Additional Assistance override.

Most of us can think of a teacher who had a great influence on our lives and a special memory of something that took place while at school. The influence of education impacts our everyday existence.

As a student, I enjoyed being able to explore, check out and read books from our school library, play a musical instrument, perform in school plays, explore the world of science through great laboratory experiences, develop healthy socialization skills while playing on safe and exciting playgrounds, and having the opportunity to explore a multitude of athletic endeavors by participating on school competitive sport teams.

Do you know this DAA override request includes the continued funding of all these enriching school experiences that involve the use of facilities, equipment, curriculum, technology, and furnishings?

As a career educator, I understand the significance of the DAA override and how the funds requested will be used to enhance academics, encourage innovation, and boost the motivation of students. As a certified teacher, I will vote yes for the budgetary increase and ask that our entire community does the same.

As a parent, my own children benefited greatly from the use of DAA expenditures. Although my children have graduated from our SUSD, and I have retired from teaching in the classroom, I still support the requested DAA override and will vote yes.

As a resident of Scottsdale, I appreciate our way of life, enriched property values, and a community that values education. Investing in our schools is investing in our future. Please join me and vote yes on the reauthorization of our SUSD DAA budgetary override.
