Christmas Eve argument leads to shooting in Glendale
Posted
A man is facing charges after he shot someone inside a home on Christmas Eve.
Desean Latrail Bell, 24, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm and criminal damage.
Around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, Glendale police responded to a home near 49th Avenue and Bethany Home Road for reports of a fight. While on their way, officers learned shots had been fired and a man had been injured.
Police found the man outside an apartment unit with a gunshot wound to his thigh, records state.
Police learned Mr. Bell had arrived at the home and at some point started arguing with two male occupants. They told Mr. Bell to leave, but he reportedly refused.
A scuffle ensued between Mr. Bell and the male occupant, during which a firearm fell out of Mr. Bell’s waistband.
Records state he grabbed the gun and allegedly fired at least three rounds at the victim.
Mr. Bell was located in the area and told police he shot the victim in self-defense and that the victim had started the fight. He claimed he started shooting because he was being choked by the victim’s brother. Mr. Bell reportedly tried to see how bad the gunshot injury was but he was told to leave, which he did.
Mr. Bell was jailed in lieu of a $30,000 bond with court dates Dec. 31 and Jan. 3.
