The inaugural Tempe Veterans Chili Championship will take place Dec. 9 at El Jefe Tacos and Sushi Tempe, 2155 E. University Drive.
The contest begins at 11 a.m., and awards will be given at halftime of the Army/Navy football game - about 4:30 p.m., according to event organizers.
Tickets cost $30 and include a T-shirt, chili judging card and taco buffet.
All money raised will provide holiday gifts and meals to veteran families in need, according to a release.
