Scottsdale Fire Department is 100% staffed but there is still stress on the system, according to Scottsdale Fire Chief Tom Shannon.
The department currently has 292 sworn firefighters and 29 civilian positions, leaving no vacant positions to fill 15 stations - though an additional station near Pinnacle Peak and Scottsdale Road is planned to come on line by September 2025.
“We are able to staff all of our fire trucks and authorized positions but I would say we are generally understaffed,” Shannon said.
