Pollo Campero, a national chain specializing in flavorful fried chicken, wants to expand into the Valley and has its sights set on Tempe.
Founded in 1971 in Guatemala, Pollo Campero currently boasts over 80 U.S. locations and another 270 around the world. It's the world's largest Central American food chain. According to Blas Escarcega, the chain’s director of franchise development, Pollo Campero hopes to build restaurants in Tempe, but also in Scottsdale, Mesa, Glendale, Carefree and Cave Creek. The company is working to identify specific areas of development.
“If you are a fried chicken fan and love flavor, Pollo Campero is the place to go,” said Escarcega. “Consumers become highly addicted once they’ve tasted it.”
