Charlie Fitzpatrick, 79Sun City resident Charlie Fitzpatrick died May 18, 2008.Mr. Fitzpatrick was born Jan. 26, 1929 in Atlantic City, N.J. He was a corpsman in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and a chef in some of Atlantic City's best known hotels in his early years.Known as "Charlie" to his friends, he became a fixture in the Sun City and Peoria areas after he moved to Arizona in 1993 for his health and discovered his first home and a family of dear friends. Possessing a booming and infectious laugh, he was recognizable whether he was at Fry's doing his shopping or helping out at the community center. He loved talking to children everywhere and meeting new people.He is surived by a loving daughter, Cynthia; two grandchildren, Margaret and Tom; and the two special ladies in his world, Thelma Hoffmana nd the Queen.A memorial gathering was conducted on Memorial Day.Donations in his memory can be made to the Youngtown Community Fund.
