Charles (Chuck) Gordon, was born in Lawton, OK, August 1, 1928, and died on June 22, 2017 at 88 years of age at home in Arizona. He lived with cancer for several years which gradually diminished his energy.In 1950, he and Carol Sloneker were married in Bartlesville, OK. A union that has lasted 67 years until his death. She helped put him through the last year of college. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1951; spent 4 years, 1952-1956 in the US Air Force; and worked for Phillips Petroleum Company and was transferred to Durango, CO in 1957, as district sales representative.In 1962, he became a co-owner of Basin Petroleum Company. Later in the decade he served as president of the Chamber of Commerce, president of United Way, and on the city planning commission. As chairman of Centennial Savings Bank in 1993 he was instrumental in negotiating the sale of the bank which is now a part of the Vectra banking system.Fun times were spent snow and water skiing with family and friends and square and ballroom dancing with his wife. Tennis, pickle ball, and hiking were enjoyed too as well as traveling abroad and seeing the USA in a motor home. His greatest pleasure was being with his immediate and extended family during gatherings at Electra Lake and family vacation trips.His survivors include wife, Carol; daughter, Cindy Gagnon; grandchildren, Andy Burnett, Marla Holgate, and Laura Anderson; two sons-in-law, nieces and nephews, an uncle, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous cousins.
