The Arizona State Fair ended its 2022 run Sunday, tallying 1,384,269 visitors who enjoyed food, games and rides while setting a record for charitable giving.
During the 23-day run of the 138th state fair, more than 220,000 plush toys were won playing games, and the food favorite continued to be turkey legs, topping 33,000 sold, according to a release.
As for rides, the La Grande Wheel spun nearly 5,000 revolutions or 500 miles, fair officials said.
Perhaps the most significant numbers were tallied on Feel Good Fridays with a record-setting 147,451 pounds of food (about a pound per meal) donated to Operation Santa Claus and St. Mary’s Food Bank, the release stated.
And the Sale of Champions Livestock Auction, which supports 4-H scholarships, generated a record $82,750 for 15 animals
Attendance fell short of a record, which was set in 2021 at 1.6 million.
