Chandler’s newest diamonds set for Saturday opening

Chandler City Council member Matt Orlando said last month one of the easiest parts of his job is when council listens to constituents.

Saturday, council and Chandler city staff will have a visible sign they’ve listened to the public, on at least one capital project. That’s when opening ceremonies are scheduled at Tumbleweed Park’s new “diamondplex” set of four softball/baseball fields, located on 30 acres near the southwest corner of Hamilton Street and Pioneer Parkway.

The complex’s primary tenant will be the Chandler Girls Softball League, which, according to Orlando, is one of the oldest leagues in the western U.S., having formed in 1977.
