Chandler Unified School District officials adopted the annual school district expenditure budget on July 13. The budget allows for a total aggregate school district budget limit of $450,368,426. The 14-page budget underwent a public review on July 13, as pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes. Discussed was the proposal to increase the district’s primary property tax levy of $2,500,000.
According to a document from the CUSD meeting agendas, the tax change will cause the school district’s property taxes on a $100,000 home to be $7.18, which would have been $0.30 without the tax increase. The budget details allotted funds for categories such as salaries, employee benefits, purchased services, supplies and other needs.
Per the document, the average teacher salary in the fiscal year 2023 is budgeted at $63,447, an increase from the 2022 average at $62,637. According to the CUSD school calendar, school starts for students on July 20.
