Chandler to spend almost $1.8M on fiber-optic switches

One of the many items approved by the Chandler City Council at its monthly regular meetings the week of Nov. 9 were two contracts aimed at helping shore up the city-owned fiber-optic network.

Approval of a pair of contracts with Caliente Construction Inc., totaling almost $1.8 million, were approved Thursday, Nov. 9. The contracts are to build small remote building to house telecommunication fiber optic hub switches along the city-owned fiber-optic network.

A staff report says the hub switch for one contracted project will be at Veterans Oasis Park, adjacent to the Chandler Heights Substation. The hub switch for the other project will be adjacent to the Public Safety Training Center and the Dobson South Water Reservoir.
