Chandler summit brings awareness to teen mental health

“Ending the Stigma: A Teen Mental Health Summit” will take place next month in Chandler.

The program, designed by teens for teens "to help and support them as they navigate today’s challenges," will take place from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Chandler Community Center, 125 E. Commonwealth Ave., according to a release.

This summit is free and is geared toward those from 12 to 19 years old.

Chandler summit brings awareness to teen mental health

“Ending the Stigma: A Teen Mental Health Summit” will take place next month in Chandler.

The program, designed by teens for teens "to help and support them as they navigate today’s challenges," will take place from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Chandler Community Center, 125 E. Commonwealth Ave., according to a release.

This summit is free and is geared toward those from 12 to 19 years old.

There will be speakers, break-out sessions, a lunch and three workshops led by  mental health experts from event partners Semicolon Society, Laloboy Foundation and Crossroads Discovery.

Participants will tour the Teen Area/Makers Space at the Downtown Library and the Chandler Fire Department Crisis Unit area. They also will participate in a yoga breathing demonstration/exercise to aid in developing and maintaining positive mental health strategies, the release stated.

The day will end with a resource expo with  vendors providing information and "essential resources to lead toward a healthy and successful path," event organizers said.
