Chandler storage units approved, though not by whole council

It’s not often a routine development application isn’t approved unanimously by the Chandler City Council.

Council approved a use permit for Pecos & McQueen Storage by a 5-2 vote at its Oct. 17 meeting. Vice Mayor O.D Harris and council member Angel Encinas both voted against the approval, but didn’t say why.

The use-permit application was recommended for council approval by Chandler Planning and Zoning Commission by a 5-1 vote at its Sept. 18 meeting. Chair Rick Heumann said he voted against it because he “didn’t feel it was a good use for a major intersection.”
