Chandler spends $2M to replace traffic-flow cameras

The city of Chandler is investing in new technology atop traffic lights to keep vehicles and bicycles moving safely on local streets.

The Chandler City Council recently approved a $2.08 million contract with Technology Construction, Inc., for traffic signal timing video detection cameras and support equipment.

Dana Alvidrez, the city’s transportation engineer, said the detection cameras on approaches to its 237 signalized intersections help modify signal timing based on vehicular demand.
