Chandler sets up this year’s heat-relief plan

With several forecasting agencies predicting another long, extremely hot summer, city staff from Chandler have made arrangements to continue a longstanding set of heat relief services.

The Chandler City Council approved an agreement earlier this month with the Maricopa County Department of Health to administer and provide heat-relief services May through September.

The arrangement will be slightly different this year — the county is contracting individually with cities, rather than the more regional approach used in 2023, when Chandler and Mesa had a combined county-funded heat relief program.
