Chandler schools to spend $750K on new vans

One of many items addressed by the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board at its Oct. 23 meeting will help get students to and from activities.

The board unanimously approved a $750,000 maximum contract with Peoria Ford for new 15-passenger van purchases. A staff report says the vans will be used for “additional transportation for field trips and athletic trips districtwide.”

Tom Dunn, the district’s director of support services, said the reason for a discrepancy between a $432,000, six-van quote and the $750,000 contract total exists because CUSD eventually wants to order 10 total vans through Peoria Ford.
