Chandler Schools to Horne: No Amnesty International presence

The Chandler Unified School District not only seemed to clear up recent apparent confusion over one organization’s presence on campus, it also received something districts don’t always get from a state official: an apology.

Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne sent CUSD a short letter dated May 17 in which he apologized for concluding this district had at least one Amnesty International club on the Hamilton High School campus.

That came two days after Horne posted a news release on the Arizona Department of Education website, Horne insisted both CUSD and Cave Creek’s district break ties with Amnesty International immediately.
