Chandler Schools student honored for nonprofit efforts

Whitney Connor says she’s been volunteering with the Gilbert Fire and Rescue Department’s Shop With a Firefighter event for many years.

That’s a big part of why she chose that project for a fundraising effort in which she set up a website and a nonprofit organization.

Connor was recognized by Chandler Unified School District Superintendent Frank Narducci at the Sept. 11 CUSD Governing Board meeting. She was given an “And Then Some” award plaque for her efforts.
