Chandler Schools finances in solid shape, district says

Unrestricted reserve funds overall balance is about $87.8 million

With some unplanned discussion of finances happening at Chandler Unified School District Governing Board meetings over the past six months, Wednesday, there was a planned discussion.

The district’s chief financial officer, Lana Berry, presented to the board her department’s annual financial report in a special meeting to present and approve the publication of the report. She said the AFR presentation is normally presented in September. However, this year, she said, not all final state forms were available in time for either of the CUSD board’s two September meetings.

“It helps to determine that we’re fiscally healthy,” Berry said of the report. “It also helps us verify if all coding is right, if budgets are right. It also helps us help calculate indirect costs for the year ahead.”
