Chandler Schools curriculum director addresses math resources

A couple of months after parents and others spoke at recent Chandler Unified School District Governing Board meetings about an elementary school math program, district leaders held a parent information night for its Chandler Traditional Academies.

Jessica Edgar, executive director of PK-12 curriculum and instruction for CUSD, said that Oct. 17 information night was productive. However, that was merely one of the more recent times district staff addressed math curriculum for early elementary school students at Chandler CTAs.

Two parents spoke during public input during the Aug. 9 meeting, with negative feedback about My Math, with one parent returning to reiterate her concerns at the Aug. 23 meeting, and to pass along feedback from her peers. Others who don’t have children in CTA programs asked the district to consider returning to the program the district used previously, Saxon Math.
