Chandler school board to vote on $9.4M Galveston contract

The Chandler Unified School District will be asked Wednesday to vote on a $9.4 million construction contract as Galveston Elementary begins its rebuild.

The contract with McCarthy is for the second phase of Galveston reconstruction. The bid includes earthwork, site utilities, structural concrete, masonry, structural steel, doors and frames, playground equipment and elevator work.

The first phase of expenses for the new Galveston campus were approved by the board in April. That’s when the board approved staff’s request for $1.55 million to pre-order HVAC mechanical equipment, electrical gear, and panels, due to long lead times.
