Chandler school board president in multiple heated exchanges

Board doesn't vote on eliminating math, other materials

A Wednesday meeting with a standing ovation for students later included the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board president interrupting a public speaker and a fellow board member — and being heckled by those in the audience.

District administration has repeatedly said “contingency” is not a term used as the official name of any funds, procedures or documents.

First-year board member Kurt Rohrs has brought up the term “contingency funds” in a handful of meeting comments and opinion columns in recent months, so a more senior board member, Joel Wirth, took time Wednesday during his closing remarks to use that term in a more general way.
