A lengthy debate took place late in the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board’s April 12 meeting, even though there was not an action item being discussed.
Board member Kurt Rohrs brought up an April 3 professional development session in which a presenter was replaced not long before an event. He said he’d like to see procedures changed to allow any professional development or in-service training about district policy to be reviewed by the board first.
Rohrs didn’t provide much detail on the nature of the presentation at the April 3 training. He said “the controversial nature of the presenters” generated “some dismay and resistance” from both teachers and members of the community.
