One of the shorter discussions by the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board at its July 10 meeting was about a new reading program, which it unanimously approved.
CUSD’s board agreed to spend $183,000 in special education M&O funds for materials for the Sonday Reading Program. A staff report calls the program a “structured, multisensory approach to teaching reading, specifically targeting students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties.”
Dr. Kym Marshall, the district’s director of student services, said the program is for “Tier 3” elementary students, or the level that requires the highest level of intervention.
