Chandler Police: Watch out for ‘jugging’ crimes

A warning issued by the Chandler Police Department during the height of the holiday shopping season still applies to January shoppers.

A social media announcement by Chandler Police tells shoppers to watch out for a crime called “jugging.” Police explained the practice is one where burglars follow customers leaving banks or high-end stores to steal their cash or valuables — often by breaking into vehicles.

“Heads up, Chandler,” police wrote. “Detectives are noticing a rise in a crime called ‘jugging.’ The good news? It’s easy to prevent. A little extra caution can keep you from becoming a target.”
