Chandler Police human trafficking unit hits 40 arrests in 2023

When Chandler Police Detective Mike Russo received the Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Leadership Award, a colleague praised Russo for dealing well with the website Backpage and people he met on that site as part of undercover investigations.

That website’s long gone, but Russo and other Chandler Police officers and employees are still combating human trafficking in a variety of ways.

In his Thursday night update to the Chandler City Council on progress made by the department’s human trafficking unit, Assistant Chief Dave Ramer had more praise for Russo.
