Chandler police chief outlines new sixth-grade program

The city of Chandler is expected to re-approve its arrangement this week with local school districts for resource officers — a service that doesn’t come cheap.

The city’s annual contract with Mesa Schools, for example, will cost the city about $80,000 and the district about the same amount — for one officer at Summit Academy.

The Kyrene School District officers will cost the city about $165,000 for one year, for a pair of middle schools, while the nine Chandler Unified School District resource officers for its junior high/middle and four high school campuses will set the city back about $700,000 in grant funds.
