Chandler Police advise extra caution, vigilance during holiday shopping

Posted

Holiday shoppers are advised to be aware of various in-store scams from thieves posing as other customers, Chandler Police said in a recent social media post.

CPD posted a video to its social media showing a woman being distracted by a thief, while a second thief takes the woman’s wallet from a purse in the seat of a shopping cart, while the woman’s back is turned.

“As our holiday shopping season gets underway, we want to share this video to bring attention to a common ploy used by criminals to separate you from your valuables,” police said in the post. “Be aware of these distraction tactics.”

Chandler Police also said to remember to keep your purses and personal items close to you while shopping.

“Shop smart,” police said.
