Chandler pavement improving, but costs rising

When a city of Chandler department is about to ask for even more money than the millions it’s been spending, it’s always welcome when a presentation includes a mention of what good the money has done so far.

The digital presentation that public works leaders used in a Dec. 11 Chandler City Council work session on pavement quality, not only explained the pavement quality index system, or PQI, but also showed how those numbers have improved in recent years.

“$30 million in one-time General Fund additions (FY 2023–26) has moved the needle,” the presentation states.
