Chandler parents’ CUSD lawsuit over suicide dismissed

Parents of a Hamilton High School teen who killed himself in 2022 are deciding what to do next, if anything, after a Maricopa County Superior Court judge recently dismissed their lawsuit against Chandler Unified School District.

Jordan and Kassidy Harstad sued Chandler Unified in April 2023 over the 2022 suicide of their Hamilton High School freshman son Andrew, claiming the school didn’t do enough to stem the bullying they claim their son was enduring at school.

The dismissal makes the next steps unclear for the Harstads, as there isn’t an obvious appeal process for a Superior Court dismissal.
