One of the many appropriations the Chandler City Council approved late last week was a nearly $635,000 expenditure for a bookmobile.
John Sefton, the city’s community services director, said while some might think bookmobiles are a relic of the past, mobilization is one way to ensure literacy among all of Chandler’s nearly 300,000 residents.
“As you know, our library services go well beyond the walls of their four facilities,” Sefton told the council. “So this vehicle can be utilized using existing staff. It will help us reach the parts of the city that need it the most.”
