Chandler lawmaker explains need for D-Backs tax bill

Rep. Jeff Weninger said it’s important to note that a bill signed into law late last month by Arizona’s Democratic governor isn’t creating a new tax.

The governor, when she signed that bill, echoed that sentiment.

Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs signed HB2704 into law in late June. The bill, sponsored by Weninger, a Chandler Republican, provides public funding to renovate Chase Field, the downtown Phoenix home of the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team.
