When Bethany Johnson stepped into a room in Scottsdale in March for a cooking competition, she brought her Perry High School experience with her.
“Timed competition is about impressing the judges, and earning scholarships, so it’s stressful, 50-50, mental and physical skills,” Johnson said. “Here at school, it’s more chill. Memorization is important, because in competition, you can’t use printed recipes, and you need to have those down solid, so you can focus on remembering to chill and de-stressing.”
