Chandler has new city clerk in Ekblad

The Chandler City Council took another step Jan. 8 in its effort to wrap up what’s been a year of changes among leadership positions.

Jennifer Ekblad will replace Dana DeLong as city clerk when DeLong retires in the months ahead. Ekblad officially starts Monday, Jan. 12, in an overlap on-the-job training role, though she’s really been preparing to take on all of DeLong’s duties since the moment she arrived in Chandler almost three years ago.

Ekblad moved to Arizona in March 2023 to become a deputy city clerk in Chandler. When DeLong announced to Council a couple of months ago that she’s retiring. Ekblad’s name was soon mentioned on executive-session agendas as an interim replacement.
