Chandler greenlights QuikTrip over fierce opposition

​A nearly three-hour April 18 meeting led to involved 17 people coming to a podium to talk about a gas station.

Near the end of one of the longer meetings in recent Chandler history, the City Council voted 5-2 to give preliminary approval to a plan for a the QuikTrip convenience store and gas station.

Council gave first approval to an ordinance approving a development plan and rezoning for a QuikTrip on the northwest corner of Dobson and Ray roads. The plan will allow for demolition of a former Osco Drug pharmacy building on the site, which has sat boarded-up after other business resided there for short times.
