Chandler’s economic development director has received an annual award from a statewide trade organization.
Micah Miranda was recognized as the Policymaker of the Year by the Association for Career Technical Education of Arizona. He received the award during the ACTE annual conference awards breakfast in Tucson.
The Policymaker of the Year Award honors people who have made significant contributions to advancing career and technical education opportunities across Arizona, according to a news release.

Micah Miranda was recognized as the Policymaker of the Year by the Association for Career Technical Education of Arizona. He received the award during the ACTE annual conference awards breakfast in Tucson.
The Policymaker of the Year Award honors people who have made significant contributions to advancing career and technical education opportunities across Arizona, according to a news release.
Miranda’s leadership has been instrumental in forging strong partnerships between the city, educational institutions and industry leaders to create innovative career pathways for students, the release states.
Miranda’s Chandler Economic Development Division has worked closely with local school districts, Chandler-Gilbert Community College, the Chandler Chamber of Commerce, the state’s two largest universities and other workforce training organizations to align programs with the needs of high-growth industries.
These partnerships have resulted in new opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience, industry knowledge and connections to high-demand careers, the release states.
Miranda has served as Chandler’s economic development director since 2014. He has 20-plus years of experience in municipal and state government organizations.
He’s also an active member of the Arizona Association for Economic Development and is a certified economic developer through the International Economic Development Council, the release states.
