East Valley city drops primary property tax rate again

After winter and spring Chandler City Council budget work sessions were completed this year, finance staff had been given direction to end the city’s 10-year run of having reduced its primary property tax rate in each cycle.

But after departmental budgets were presented to council and the mayor in a daylong May 1 briefing, staff was given direction to extend that string for one more year.

So while the slightly reduced rate will still mean a small property tax increase total for Chandler owners in fiscal 2027, it’s keeping the tax burden in check as much as it can, as the city is giving up about $253,000 in tax revenue this year by going with the lower rate.
