Chandler district flexes negotiating leverage

Nearly anyone who follows Arizona school boards has seen contracts up for approval with another district’s name attached to them.

Many Arizona districts are members of the 1Governmental Procurement Alliance — a nonprofit national government purchasing cooperative that helps public agencies take advantage of existing contracts in purchasing everything from construction services to vehicles, from local and national vendors.

Chandler Unified has been using 1GPA for years, and district staff even had some 1GPA contracts up for approval at the CUSD Governing Board’s March 25 meeting. But the district is taking the lead in some cases as well.
