East Valley official: Coordinating street, sewer projects not easy

Several times over the past few years, readers have asked questions to the effect of “Why are all the roads in Chandler being worked on at the same time?”

While those who follow transportation and infrastructure news know there are multiple local governments and utilities that could be working in the same neighborhood or area, the city of Chandler has fallen behind on replacing aging infrastructure.

Leadership and elected officials debate how much to spend or how much work to push within certain time windows. But it’s the responsibility of Chandler’s Public Works managers to coordinate with the Arizona Department of Transportation and other agencies working on major projects.
