Chandler Council to vote on utility rates Monday

Final approval expected on ordinance involving many rate increases

Monday evening, the Chandler City Council is scheduled to vote on final approval for new solid waste, water, wastewater and reclaimed water rates that would go into effect Jan. 1, 2024.

After a lengthy, multi-step process, mid-October hearing on utility rates, the Chandler City Council has decided to raise many of its utilty rates, effective Jan. 1, 2024. The rates were discussed in a council public work session July 20, in a city-staffed public meeting Sept. 13 and in a public hearing Oct. 19 just before a tentative adoption of a rate ordinance.

Monday's expected final adoption of the new rates  will allow  rates for  a handlful of services to remain unchanged, modest increases on many services or rates and a few items that will get considerably more expensive to Chandler residents or businesses.
