Chandler Council to consider youth violence reforms Thursday

Proposed ordinance is city's most tangible recent response to teen violence

The Chandler City Council is capping a week of multiple meetings with a highly anticipated discussion on changes to city code in the wake of teen violence in the southeast Valley.

Council has met about as many times in April as it will in any month of 2024. The three meetings set for this week — plus a brief Housing Authority meeting Monday — come after five meetings the week of March 21, ahead of a busy week of April 15 and ahead of an all-day April 26 budget meeting.

On Thursday, April 4, council is set to hold a 4 p.m. work session in the City Hall conference room for a presentation and discussion on proposed updates to city code in the wake of increased recognition of teen violence in the region.
