A few days before voting to authorize a plan to improve a downtown street, a Chandler city official sparked a lively discussion about a set of legal steps that likely won’t be a part of the project.
Vice Mayor Matt Orlando voiced concerns at a Monday, Dec. 4 study session about language in a resolution authorizing the city to acquire property rights along Wall Street for a multi-faceted improvement project.
Orlando was informed the language was standard and had been in place for similar resolutions since before Kelly Schwab was the city attorney. However, Schwab and city manager Josh Wright agreed to add language to the resolution before it was approved at Thursday’s regular meeting.
