Chandler Council renews first-responder cancer screening

​Chandler firefighters are getting at least one more year out of what’s described as an effective health screening program.

The Chandler City Council approved at its June 27 meeting, a one-year, $550,000 contract with the Vincere Cancer Center for Chandler Fire Department cancer screening.

Assistant Fire Chief Keith Hargis used his time at a study session to point out the many types of cancer for which firefighters are at more risk than the general public.
