Managing problems related to short-term rentals is back in the hands of City of Chandler staff — sort of.
Thursday night, the Chandler City Council unanimously gave second and final approval to Ordinance 5048. The ordinance allows the city to set a licensing program for short-term rental owners, complete with penalties for operating a rental without a license and more detailed contact-information requirements than are currently part of city code.
The ordinance goes into effect Aug. 1. That gives the Council and staff time to notify the community and to determine license fees.
