Chandler Council might OK park plan Thursday

One of dozens of items likely to be approved by the Chandler City Council at its Thursday, Aug. 15 regular meeting is a series of major upgrades in and near a park located on the north side of the city.

A $4.6 million change order for Detroit Basin/Gazelle Meadows Park storm system and associated improvements was discussed at an Aug. 12 study session by council and the city’s community services director, John Sefton.

The total project cost has ballooned beyond $17 million, though it includes both park upgrades and area utility work. A staff report says $3.8 million of the project costs is paid for using American Rescue Plan Act funds.
