A pair of Chandler City Council members have weighed in on what a former U.S. senator said during a pair of October meetings, with a routine upcoming vote on a development project seeming to have taken on added significance.
Not only did a development group called Active Infrastructure launch a plan to build a large artificial intelligence data center on the site of a long-vacant industrial facility in south Chandler, but former Sen. Kyrsten Sinema came to a pair of October meetings to speak in favor of council approving the development plan.
Sinema used the term “federal preemption” both during an Oct. 15 Chandler Planning and Zoning Commission hearing about the data center and also the following night during the public-input time at a Chandler City Council meeting.
