Chandler Council member: Cities must find a way out of salary race

On the heels of a budget cycle in which Chandler city leaders discussed billions of dollars of needed and planned capital projects, along with regular mentions of how much inflation is impacting city business, three of those leaders are likely to get significant pay raises as a result of a Thursday evening vote.

Chandler City Council members will vote Thursday on contracts that will give City Manager Josh Wright a $65,000 total raise over the next two years, City Attorney Kelly Schwab a $52,000 raise over that same span and $30,000 more for City Clerk Dana DeLong.

Council is likely to approve the raises, as contracts don’t typically make it to board agendas without council discussion. All three recently met with council for annual closed-door reviews.
