Chandler Council can fund programs with opioid settlement funds

The Chandler City Council is set to vote on many things at its 6 p.m. regular meeting Thursday — including how it will spend some of its opioid settlement funds.

Monday, June 10, the director of a program that’s set to receive some of that money and a city staff member told council how it will all work.

Recovery Cafe, a nationwide chain of centers offering help with breaking substance abuse addiction patterns, is set to receive two contracts from the city, each for $50,000 in opioid settlement funds. One contract is to support general operations at the center, located at Alma School and Elliott roads, while the other contract is for an education program in local schools.
