At its May 25 meeting, the Chandler City Council approved the city’s tentative $1.66 billion fiscal year 2024 budget, with staff finally providing a few budget details publicly.
The term “tentative” is used in state statute language mainly because municipalities must decide on their maximum expenditures by a deadline. Chandler’s budget could be reduced in June, but can’t go above $1.66 billion.
The city’s June 15 meeting will include a public hearing on a property tax levy, which is set to be reduced slightly, with final adoption of the budget set for June 29. Fiscal year 2024 begins July 1.
