Chandler Council approves police, fire union contracts

Poston, determining no conflict of interest, votes on all 3 items

Chandler’s police officers and firefighters have new two-year union contracts with the city after the City Council approved them at a Feb. 22 meeting.

The vote came after a detailed presentation from the city’s human resources director — and a less lengthy exchange about whether one council member would even vote on all three contracts.

Council unanimously approved two-year city contracts with the Chandler Lieutenants and Police Sergeants Association, the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Chandler Law Enforcement Association. Key provisions include a 5% across-the-board raise built into all three contracts, along with holiday overtime pay, and members of the CLEA — the officers’ union — will get $1,500 in July of both this year and in 2025.
